Taking control of the narrative as racialized and Muslimah women mediamakers

This is Worldtown is a digital hub featuring the first person expression of women of colour, globally, across storytelling mediums. We are a redemptive, living and breathing platform that brings new perspectives to issues of migration, politics, race and culture. We tell stories behind the crisis, directly from those who are building, making art, sharing their pain and their truth. This is Worldtown: Your voice. Your Terms.

We will be sharing the opinion of a few of This is Worldtown’s artists/contributors [Mashal Khan, Shazlin Rahman, Elizabeth Farinango, Soko Negash, Aniqa Rahman, Samah Ali & Aleia Robinson-Ada] and talking about how women of colour are remixing the Archive for the future.
In digital spaces, women of colour are taking charge of creating new representations and documenting personal histories that resonate across diasporic experiences and uplift communities under fire.

Come and meet BIWOC visual storytellers share their experience with revolutionizing how women of colour are portrayed in our culture. What does it mean to visiblize these experiences? How are we learning from the past? How are we creating a better, more equitable future?”
